After President Gordon Moulton proposed the idea for the Mitchell Cancer Institute eight years ago, the vision became a reality on Sept. 22 when the institute began treating its first patients. The annual homecoming celebration held in the spring semester during basketball season will be affected by the inclusion of football into the University of South Alabama's athletics program. The week-long celebration, which typically takes place in the winter, may be moved to a different semester, according to a recent Homecoming Committee meeting.

A small group fight misleading solicitation on campus, particularly at the Student Center. The student center director, Robin Jones, and members of the Student Government Association have formed the student review board. The first meeting was held Sept. 15.
