Commedia del Arte, a performing arts troupe based in Mobile, Ala., is putting a new spin on live entertainment. The group performs regularly at the Museum of Mobile and on the campus of the University of South Alabama. Their style is "Commedia dell'arte," a form of improvisational theater that began in Italy and dates back to the Middle Ages.
The Daedalus String Quartet performed at the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center on Sept. 18. Dr. Java is now presenting "Expressive Qualities: From Within, From Without" by Sean Koger and Josh Ashley. The exhibit opened Sept. 19 and will run until Nov. 9 at Dr. Java located across from USA on Old Shell Road. The exhibit is a unique one as works displayed by Kroger are in mediums of pastels and charcoals, and Ashley's work is mixed media.
