University of South Alabama graduate and Goodwill Church Ministries praise team leader Charles Collins, 28, recently discussed his new CD pre-release and solo debut concert, "Now is the Time."
"The most fulfilling to me at this point is being able to hear what God is giving me, to hear other people sing what God has given me, people catch on and grab a hold to them, and to hear it deliver, know that it came out of me, because a lot of times I used to feel like writing music was so difficult to do, but now that I have written about five songs."
Along with the feelings of self-accomplishment that Collins has concerning his involvement with the Goodwill Church ministries, he also mentions the challenges that come along with music ministry.
"In music ministry, what has been challenging at times is opposition of the enemy, trying to allow God to use you to take people to another place, and they don't want to go there, a reluctance to embrace what God is doing or has, adjusting to new people when someone already knows your flow, and you all come together and get that common flow or bond that's needed."
Collins has made mention of his close relationship with his "spiritual family" and often speaks of how this unchanging bond played a critical part in creating "Now is the Time." He tells how Apostle Jeffery Thrash, senior pastor of Goodwill Church Ministries, and his wife, Prophetess Sandra Thrash, have affected his life and how feels truly "honored" to have each of them in his life.
"I give honor to my spiritual father because he uncompromisingly teaches us the word of God. Not only does he teach it, but he walks it before you. He has always been a support, always been there; he's always been more than a pastor. He's a friend, someone you can confide in and talk to," Collins stated.
In spite of his busy schedule, Collins manages to balance music ministry with marriage and family.
"My wife and kids are my first priority, next to my ultimate priority, God," Collins commented. He went on to say, "Everything else flows out of that. I strive really hard to make sure that things aren't left undone or neglected at home while I'm out ... if I am taking care of my home, my first ministry, then God will make a way for the other things that he has for me to do."
Outside of the ministry, Collins has a surprising passion surrounding the world of fashion design. He hopes to get more involved in the business aspect of the fashion industry.
Charles Collins Ministries hosted "An Evening of Worship" on Nov. 3. The event was a spectacular performance to celebrate the upcoming release of "Now is the Time."
