On Oct. 26, from 5 - 9 p.m., ARTS ALIVE! will occur on the streets of downtown Mobile in the general area of Cathedral Square. ARTS ALIVE is a place for South Alabama Art students to present and sell their work. Many other artists will be entering into this show, and food, music and drinks will be available.
Set-up for this event is from 3-5 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Students can drop off their individual work at any time, but easels and booth spaces are first come, first serve. Artists are encouraged to arrive early and are responsible for the transportation of their individual work. The art work should be picked up between 8:30-9:30 p.m. Each participating artist can submit up to four pieces, paying a $5 fee for each work. Ceramic and sculpture pieces are two-for-one for all pieces smaller than six inches. Easels, stands, personal postcards and labels are welcome and encouraged for the presentation and distribution of the artist's name and work.
Since this show is made up of student artwork, the prices will be relatively inexpensive for prospective buyers. These paintings, drawings, ceramics and sculptural pieces will make wonderful holiday gifts or original home décor pieces.
For more information on this event, contact Lisa C. Warren, the president of the Student Art Association, or vice-president Adrienne Falls at southarts@gmail.com. You can also visit http://www.mobilearts.org to learn more about ARTS ALIVE!
