Naysayers are in the minority

A SMALL NUMBER of naysayers have spoken out against bringing NCAA Football to the University of South Alabama. They claim the program does not have the necessary support of the community or of the student body. These people further claim that it is simply a small but vocal minority who is pushing for NCAA Football at the University.
Well, these people are wrong. As it turns out, it is the naysayers who are in the minority. All early indications have shown that community and business leaders are willing to support an NCAA Football program at the University. These indications do not just include promised moral support but also promised financial support. The backing of the community and business leaders is there.
Perhaps the naysayer may now be motivated to say "Well, yes, you have the support of a key constituent. This constituent may provide a lot of funding that might not be otherwise available to the proposed program, but what about the majority of the people? A successful program requires more than support from leaders. It requires the day-in-and-day-out support of everyday people. It requires a sustainable fan base."
Well, the numbers are in. According to this week's Press-Register/University of South Alabama poll, nearly 80 percent of the people in the community are in favor of bringing a football program to the University - 80 percent! That makes whom in the minority?

We are only a few dollars away from paying what an Auburn student pays for tuition and fees. I love football but I am not playing for USA and I don't want to pay for it either. (Continued…)

LOL, why people continue to throw misinformed statistics out there is beyond me. Since you obviously didn't look up the stats, I did so for you.

South Alabama, as of Spring 2008, has tuition and fees of $2069 per semester. (Continued…)
