It has been almost two months since Greek rush, and many of the fraternities and sororities are now celebrating the initiation of their new members. During the upcoming weeks in the Greek community, the calendar will be filling up with philanthropy events from various fraternities and sororities.

This week, Alpha Gamma Delta will be hosting their Squirrel Week. This is the first year for this event and Alpha Gamma Delta is looking forward to the dedication and participation of their fellow Greeks.
Squirrel Week is designed to raise money for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation benefiting diabetes research. This past Sunday, they held a community service day at the sorority commons. Alpha Gamma Delta brought in children from local agencies and spent the afternoon playing with these children and investing in their lives.

Today, they will be holding a penny drop at the Student Center Breezeway from 10 -2 p.m. On Tuesday, they will host the Alpha Gam Olympics at the sorority commons at 6 p.m. This competition will consist of various relays and games between teams from each sorority and fraternity. On Wednesday, they will host a "Meet the Contestants" for their first ever Big Man on Campus Pageant Friday night. Thursday, they will have a spaghetti dinner at their house from 5:30- 9:30 p.m. for $5 at the door. The Big Man on Campus Pageant Friday night will be held in the Student Center Ballroom at 7 p.m. On Saturday, several of the Alpha Gamma Delta ladies will also be participating in a diabetes walk. Squirrel Week is a wonderful opportunity for the Greek community and other students in campus to get involved and support Alpha Gamma Delta in their endeavor to help diabetes research.

Kappa Delta is now preparing for their annual Shamrock event. This year, they will be hosting their 5K run on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 9 a.m. The money raised for this event will benefit Prevent Child Abuse America. The early registration deadline has already passed, but you can still register the day of the race for $20.
