"The arts season is still young but the Houston debut of the Vienna Piano Trio will be one of the events elbowing its way to be 'best of the year,'" claims the Houston Chronicle.
Fortunately for those of us in the Mobile area, the Trio is past its debut and is about to make its way into the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center here on campus. The Vienna Piano Trio is hailed as being "one of the world's leading ensembles of violin, cello and piano" and is exalted by The New York Times as being "an electrifying performance".
The group was founded in 1988 and is composed of violinist Wolfgang Redik, cellolist Matthias Gredler and pianist Stefan Mendl.
According to their Web site, they have been mentored and instructed by world-class musicians such as Isaac Stern, Ralph Kirschbaum and Joseph Kalichstein. The Vienna Piano Trio has traveled all over the country and throughout the world. Now, they are coming to Laidlaw on Oct. 7 at 3:00 p.m.
