'Extinction' is not the end

Alice is back to fighting zombies in a world dying from the man-made T-virus in "Resident Evil: Extinction." Milla Jovovich reprises her role as Alice, the character that survived the first two "Resident" movies.
Acting
Jovovich is a big reason, if not the reason, to go see this movie. She has more acting ability than many critics give her credit for. She has several death scenes to act out, and each of them is nuanced differently -- I will not say more, so just see the movie. Of course, what we really expect her to do in "Resident Evil" is seek vengeance on zombies and the Umbrella Corporation, makers of the virus that created the zombies and killed the planet.
Jovovich is supported by a large cast of characters, including Oded Fehr as Carlos, Ali Larter as Claire and Iain Glen as Dr. Isaacs. The standout supporting actor was Glen. He played a creepy and very insane member of the Umbrella Corporation who eventually turns into a very interesting adversary for Alice.
Directing
Russell Mulcahy directed "Extinction." He assembled a strong cast and script which makes this third "Resident" installment worth watching. He did seem to go more for quick scare tactics than in the first two movies. Some moviegoers may experience the need to jump a time or two while watching the movie.
Special Effects
The special effects in "Extinction" and its predecessors are always surprisingly good. Both the blood-and-guts makeup and the digital effects are high quality. The movie also contains some impressive fire effects.
Storyline
The storyline simply picks up where the last movie left off. Most of the movie follows Alice as she tries to avoid getting caught by Dr. Isaacs. We do get introduced to some some tougher zombies created by a failed cure for the T-virus.
Overall
If you like Milla Jovovich, see this movie. You may even get the chance to see more of her zombie-killing skills. Once again, "Resident" leaves the possibility of a sequel wide open.
