Wilson was a sophomore at USA studying physical therapy.
The accident occurred around 6:45 p.m. Sept. 9 at the intersection of University Boulevard and Old Shell Road, according to Mobile Police Spokesman John Young. Both Wilson and Thomas were sent to the USA Medical Center that evening. Wilson was listed in critical condition.
The campus patrolman was heading north on University Boulevard when he collided with Wilson who was driving a 2001 Mercury Marquis in the turning lane on University Boulevard heading east on Old Shell Road.
The Mobile Police Department is still investigating the accident, according to a police spokesman as of Friday morning. The case will be turned over to the Mobile County District Attorney's Office. Both Thomas and Wilson were wearing seat belts, according to police.
There will be a candlelight vigil ceremony for Wilson Sept. 24 at the Student Center Amphitheater at 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
