Students who have laptops and want to take a break from the library can go to various places near campus to use free Internet services.
Satori Coffee House, Subway and the Bubble Martini Bar are some of the places students can go to hang out and study or browse the Internet.
Maria, an employee at Satori's who wanted to be recognized only by her first name in the paper, took time to talk about their wireless service. "They bring their own computers, but in order for it to work, you have to have a wireless card for your computer," Maria said. "We've been offering it for about a year or two, and it's free."
Maria said although the service helps bring in customers, there was a strong customer base before the wireless service was provided. "We have a very good business crowd. We still have good business even without it because not everybody brings a computer."
Mike Gonash, an employee at Subway, said they have been offering free wireless Internet services for two months, and the response has been positive. "Everyday, we have around three or four customers during lunchtime [using the wireless service]."
The Bubble Martini Bar also provides wireless Internet.
