Like the women, active sports wear was a hot trend. Unlike the women, there was nothing frumpy or chic about men's active sports wear. It looks exactly as it is intended to look; the wearer is set to go to the gym.
Anyone who actually sports such an outfit to the gym, however, is most likely not there to workout. In this spring's tight fitting, skin-exposed collections, he is at the gym to be seen. Emporio Armani was a leading contender in the active sports wear style.
Eco-friendly has become a household label. It seems like everyone nowadays is a vegan, sleeping on organic-cotton sheets. Who would have guessed designers would develop a trend based on the concept?
The male fashionista does not have to like hummus or rub patchouli into his wrists to look like he just returned from assignment with the Peace Corps. He simply has to turn to the runway.
Bottega Veneta developed a very dressed up world traveler spin on this popular look. Marc by Marc Jacobs took a more casual approach, incorporating shorts and billowing tunics. It's the new grunge.
For those hot summer nights at the club or a formal party, a suit is the way to go, but not just any suit.
The sex and glamour of the disco age is back. If the ensemble doesn't look like the wearer just stepped off the set of "Saturday Night Fever" (in better shoes), he will find himself wanting.
Gucci gave the look a modern feel with several show-stopping designs in light, shimmering fabric to be paired with their collection of embellished button downs. Alexander McQueen stuck to the classic low-cut three-button, and the result screams sex appeal.
The hottest trend this summer is (surprise, surprise) sunglasses. Be sure and sport the right pair. Thick frames (cousins to the thick framed glasses we all rushed to buy this past winter) are the hottest of the hot. Be sure and pick a shape that matches the facial structure of the wearer.
