The Sun Belt Conference name four University of South Alabama student-athletes to the 2002 All-Sun Belt Conference Women's Soccer Team, at its tournament banquet on Nov. 5.
Freshman midfielder Rebecca Kahn, senior midfielder Kathy Steinmetz, senior defender Keri Osborne and sophomore goalkeeper Amber Angermeier were named to the second team.
Marilyn Marin, a junior from North Texas and the nation's leading scorer, was chosen as the Sun Belt Conference
Player of the Year. Christina Mascaro, a junior midfielder from Middle Tennessee, was named Newcomer of the Year. Marsha Stewart, a goalkeeper from Arkansas-Little Rock, was selected as the Freshman of the Year and Denver Head Coach Jeff Hooker earned Coach of the Year honors.
Joining Marin on the first team was forwarda Laura Miguez of Middle Tennessee and Mychael Movius from Denver, midfielders Katie Antongiovanni from Denver, Nicola Bell from Florida International University Melinda Pina from North Texas and Kristin Warren from Denver, defenders Jamie Norwood and Angie
Portincaso from Denver, defender Sara Vienberg from UL-Lafayette and goalkeeper Erica Izard from Denver.
Second team selections included forwards Jenni Harris of Denver,
Allison Nellis of Western Kentucky, Stacy Smith of UL-Lafayette and Kerri Weaver of Denver, midfielders Crystal Chapon of Western Kentucky and Kahn and Steinmetz of USA. Defenders Elena Esquibel of Arkansas-Little Rock
Jag's Keri Osborne and Melissa Robinson of Western Kentucky and goalkeeper Amber Angermeier of USA.
